Our automotive grade products are verified to work under harsh temperatures ranging from -50ºC to 125ºC, and are certified for automotive applications, such as powertrain, on-board electronics, and charging systems.
KEMET offers a wide variety of AEC-Q200 Certified capacitors for automotive applications. Using different types of dielectric material, KEMET’s capacitor product offering provide a wide range of benefits, features and advantages.
Aluminum Electrolytic capacitors are especially suitable for application such as powertrain, onboard charging, infotainment and ADAS to name a few. Those applications typically involve functions such as bulk capacitance, decoupling, and filtering, for which KEMET’s Aluminum Electrolytics feature high degree of stability, heat tolerance and high current capabilities.
Inside a vehicle, KEMET’s Ceramic capacitors can be used in airbag designs, wireless power transfer and keyless entry system designs, among many others. These capacitors, in particular, can withstand high-voltage (up to 3KV) and are quite stable under high temperature conditioning while offering features such as open mode, flexible termination and floating electrodes. This makes these capacitors ideal for functions such as snubbers, resonant converters and circuit protection.
Our comprehensive product line of film capacitors are known for their self-healing capabilities, harsh environment tolerance and ability to withstand high ripple current. As such these capacitors are ideal for applications like electric chargers, ADAS and infotainment. Within those applications, these capacitors are typically used for functions such as transient protection, decoupling, filtering and resonant circuits.
KEMET's offering of tantalum capacitors – with their high temperature tolerance and low DCL – are naturally designed in powertrain, ADAS and safety applications. They can be used in bulk capacitance and decoupling functions.
KEMET also offers organic polymer capacitors (known as KO-CAP) with high humidity tolerance (and temperatures up to 150°C.) Much like tantalum capacitors, they are usually best suited for bulk capacitance and decoupling functions in applications like powertrain and ADAS.
When it comes to magnetics, starting with its power inductors and arriving at its differential and common mode chokes, KEMET offers some of the most comprehensive product offerings in the market.
KEMET’s power inductors are some of the best in the industry when it comes to DC-DC converters, high-frequency, and regulator functions. These functions are typically designed in cluster panels, electric pumps, powertrain, ADAS and infotainment systems. Our inductors offer you low DCR, high current tolerance, and capability to operate under extreme heat conditions reaching up to 155°C.
KEMET also offers power inductors with metal composite cores for applications that require low core loss.
In addition, we also offer differential and common mode chokes suitable for most noise filtering in chargers, inverters and EMI suppression applications in ADAS, powertrain, infotainment and wireless power transfer systems.
KEMET’s product portfolio for noise suppression and mitigation includes safety capacitors, HHBC differential mode chokes (featuring Fe-Si core,) SCR/SC common mode chokes (with Mn-Zn core,) and SC-D 700L series common mode chokes (with Ni-Zn core.) These are typically designed in ADAS, powertrain, infotainment and wireless power transfer for interference prevention and EMI suppression.
