C-Specs

Customer Specifications (C-Specs) are 4-digit codes found at the end of a part number which specify things like reeling, ESR ratings, or special testing. These are internal codes to KEMET and may not appear on a customer’s BOM. However, they do appear on labels and can cause confusion at receiving. Below are a number of KEMET C-Specs which are commonly used.

Note:

KEMET allows distributors and customers to use abbreviations to mark components.

For example, TR stands for "tape and reel" and TU stands for "tape/unmarked" on ceramic chips. When these abbreviations are used, the KEMET system will automatically apply the appropriate 4-digit code.

Example: C0805C103K5RACTU = C0805C103K5RAC7800 (7800 = standard tape and reel.)

ESR rating example: T520D337M004ATE012 (E for ESR, 012 = 12mOhm.)

* Except 0805 thickness codes: DC, DD, DJ, DK, DM, DN, DO, DP, DR/DS and CA064 (1632) with Paper Tape.

1. Marking not available for case sizes: EIA 0201, 0402 and EIA 0603 with Flexible Termination.

1. Marking not available for dielectrics: C0G, U2J, X8R, X8G, Y5V and some specific X7R per catalog.

2. All automotive standard C-Specs exclude the option to laser mark components.

3. C-Spec is for internal use only. When ordering, order with Suffix.

* Please refer to the online catalog for quantities per reel

* Tantalum chips (SMD) come on a 7” reel as a standard, so no reeling spec is necessary. Samples ordered through KEMET Direct will not show a sample C-spec on the label.
