| Greenville, South Carolina (November 8, 2006)–KEMET Corporation (NYSE:KEM) surpassed even its own expectations by raising just over a quarter of a million dollars for the United Way. The company had set a “super stretch goal” of $250,000.00, which was achieved through the generosity of KEMET employees and retirees—and $73,600 from the corporation itself. All contributions were made through the United Way of Greenville County; however, KEMET employees who live in communities outside the county were able to designate their contributions to their local United Way organization.
A check presentation has been arranged for Thursday, November 9th at 11:30 AM at KEMET’s headquarters. On hand from KEMET will be Per Olof-Loof, KEMET’s Chief Executive Officer; Mike Randall, who served as chairman of the company’s United Way campaign committee; and members of the campaign committee. Key personnel from the United Way of Greenville County will be on hand to accept the ceremonial check, including Paula Lachica, Senior Campaign Manager, and Dennis Trice, COO of Mitsubishi Polyester Film, who serves on the United Way of Greenville County’s Campaign Cabinet.
“KEMET is proud to partner with the United Way,” says Dean Dimke, Director of Corporate and Marketing Communication for KEMET. “Many groups affiliated with the United Way will benefit from our contribution, helping thousands of those in need in the communities in which we live, work and play.”
This amount was the highest amount raised in the last four years, and participation was up across the board:
Dollars raised during special events increased nearly 130%
Per capita contributions increased almost 40% from the previous year, and were the highest on record
Three locations participated—KEMET’s Simpsonville headquarters and its Innovation Centers in Simpsonville and Ft. Inn—and each one posted an increase in contributions from last year
Senior management was so impressed by the commitment of the employees, they decided to step up corporate contribution levels by 13%, which helped KEMET exceed the $250,000 mark.
KEMET Corporation provides industry-leading, high-performance capacitance solutions, including the world’s most complete line of surface-mount capacitor technologies across tantalum, ceramic and solid aluminum dielectrics—along with the world’s best quality, delivery and service.
