| Greenville, South Carolina (July 31, 2006) – KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM) today announced the expansion of its Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor portfolio with the introduction of the Ultra Small 0201(EIA) case size MLCC. These new devices are currently available as Class 1 temperature compensating capacitors as well as Class 2 high capacitance value parts. Capacitance offering ranges from 10 picofarads to 0.1 microfarads at rated voltages from 6.3 to 25 volts. Capacitors have 100% pure Matte Tin (Sn) plated terminations for excellent solderability and are RoHS compliant.
The extremely small size of these capacitors results in higher component placement density, efficiency and PCB space savings, an especially critical consideration for engineers and designers of smaller portable communications and information processing devices. Typical applications include usage in cell phone modules and around integrated circuits of increasingly higher pin counts. The devices are approximately one-third the footprint area of a 0402(EIA) case size capacitor and meet the same high performance standards of KEMET's other ceramic capacitors, offering long component life, increased reliability and non-directional polarization for simplified component mounting.
