Business Continuity Planning Disclosure

This is KEMET’s disclosure statement regarding its Business Continuity Management (BCM) Program.

KEMET has developed a Business Continuity Plan (BCP), which will be activated in the event of a threat to major business interruption to maintain and/or recover mission critical operations.

Several continuity and recovery strategies were implemented during the development of KEMET’s BCM program. For example, KEMET has established a BCP management team to: (a) control, support and provide emergency management disaster activities, (b) maintain and/or recover business operations, and (c) recover and restore technology. KEMET has also established alternate sites for continuity and recovery of mission critical operations where possible.

KEMET’s BCM ongoing efforts include, reducing and minimizing threats to operations through the implementation of proactive actions, testing the plans, keeping the plans up-to-date and training personnel regarding their BCP roles and responsibilities.

H1N1

KEMET has several manufacturing locations in Northern Mexico. KEMET is monitoring the swine flu (H1N1) issue and taking appropriate precautions to help prevent its spread and at the same time reduce the threats to KEMET operations. At this time there has been no impact on our business. Should the situation worsen, KEMET has established contingency plans which would be enacted and would help with maintaining our business operations.

Swine flu or H1N1 Flu, as you know, is a concern for all of us. At KEMET, we are not aware of anyone affected thus far by the H1N1 Flu, but we are taking steps to ensure that we are prepared, should this virus strike.

What to do if you have symptoms
H1N1 Flu symptoms are similar to those of the more common flu strains and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. If you experience these symptoms, please seek medical attention immediately. Your physician can determine the nature of your illness and recommend appropriate treatment. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) and WHO (World Health Organization) reports that several types of antiviral drugs seem to work for the H1N1 Flu when taken shortly after symptoms begin and that our state has a supply of these treatments. It takes 48 to 72 hours for symptoms to appear after contact with the virus.

What to do to fight the spread of the flu virus
•Wash your hands thoroughly and often. (Singing the "Alphabet" song or "Happy Birthday" song to yourself is the appropiate length of time for proper handwashing!) If soap and water is not available, use alcohol based waterless sanitizer.
• Cover your cough with your sleeve rather than your hand
• Stay away from people who are sick
• Eat a healthy diet and get plenty of rest
