Greenville, South Carolina (September 30, 2005) – KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM) announced today that KEMET is first to market with new RoHS-compliant/lead-free components in the Axial Molded (T322), Radial Molded (T340) and Commercial Herm Seal (T110/T140) capacitors. Standard tin/lead (Sn/Pb) versions will remain available. This expansion of RoHS-compliant/lead-free options for its tantalum leaded product line, is in accordance with environmental legislation eliminating lead (Pb) from the manufacture of electronic components. The industry’s lead-free initiative is being driven by environmental legislation, such as the End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV), Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS), and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directives.
