Affected Products This PCN impacts all KEMET Tantalum Surface Mount (SMD) Polymer Series included in Table 1 and produced in ICT, USA that were not covered in previous customer notifications:

Change KEMET has evaluated and qualified the new black epoxy material setting and will start the conversion from yellow to black for the remaining part numbers not covered in previous customer change notifications. The qualified black epoxy material has been in use on KEMET’s polymer products shipped from the Suzhou, China location since 2013.
Justification & Benefits This conversion allows KEMET to be consistent and to standardize with the epoxy material internally and the capacitor industry.
Effective Date & Identification The black epoxy material has been qualified. Products with yellow epoxy will continue to be shipped until customer approval is received for this PCN or up to February 2015. Effective PWC 506, all products will be produced using black epoxy encapsulation. Yellow or black encapsulated products may be shipped until all yellow encapsulated inventory is depleted. Once yellow inventory is depleted, all affected products included in Table 1 will be shipped with black epoxy material.
